Our Yeast Screening Kits

A wide variety of xenobiotic compounds (e.g., pesticides, plasticizers, and synthetic hormones) and naturally occurring chemicals possess steroid-like activities that lead to the potential disruption of the endocrine system in vertebrates. Using our autobioluminescent expression technology, we developed a suite of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) bioreporters capable of detecting estrogenic and/or androgenic activity in environmental samples at greater speeds and sensitivities.

The androgen/estrogen disruptor screening kit contains our S. cerevisiae BLYR, S. cerevisiae BLYAS, and S. cerevisiae BLYES strains for comprehensive cytotoxicity, estrogenicity, and androgenicity testing in one simple package. This kit provides a rapid and simplistic platform for evaluating the potential endocrine system impacts of samples with detection characteristics that meet or exceed those of alternative monitoring approaches at a fraction of the cost.
